Kathmandu – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading a high-level Nepali delegation to China for a five-day official visit from August 30 to September 3, 2025, at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The delegation will include his wife Radhika Shakya, Congress Vice-President and former Deputy Prime Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, Education Minister Raghuji Pant, Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, the Prime Minister’s economic advisor Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada, MP Chhabilal Bishwakarma, along with senior government officials.

The main purpose of the visit is to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, to be held in Tianjin on September 1–2, inaugurated by President Xi. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several other heads of state and government are also attending. On September 2, Oli will also address the SCO Plus Summit.

During the visit, Oli will hold bilateral talks with President Xi Jinping and Vice President Han Zheng. He is also scheduled to meet leaders from Russia, the Maldives, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam.

On September 3, the delegation will take part in the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and World War II in Beijing, which more than 50 countries are expected to attend.

Nepal has been a dialogue partner of SCO since 2016. The Prime Minister said Nepal aims to strengthen bilateral ties with China, increase its level of engagement with SCO, and use the platform to present Nepal’s perspectives on regional and international issues. He expressed confidence that the visit would enhance Nepal’s international image and promote national interests.
