Kathmandu- Nepali Ambassador Chandra Kumar Ghimire has resigned from his position as Nepal’s envoy to the United Kingdom after the government directed ambassadors from 11 countries to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Through social media, Ghimire bid farewell to the UK and expressed his gratitude for the respect and support he received during his tenure.
On Monday, the government decided to recall ambassadors from China, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Japan, and the United States.
According to the decision, they were instructed to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Kartik 20 (early November).
This decision was implemented despite an interim order from the Supreme Court instructing the government to halt the ambassador recall process.
It was reported that since the court’s order had not been formally received by the Ministry, the government proceeded with the recall as per its earlier decision and schedule.
