Prime Minister Oli departed for his visit to China while getting drenched in the rain, and a team including Home Minister Lamichhane arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport to see him off. This is his second visit to China after becoming Prime Minister.
At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Oli will remain in China until Wednesday, the 18th. There, he will participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit.
The delegation includes his wife Radhika Shakya, Education Minister Raghuji Pant, Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, Nepali Congress Vice-President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Prime Minister’s economic advisor Dr. Yuba Raj Khatiwada, lawmaker Chhabilal Bishwakarma, along with other senior officials.
The SCO Summit is scheduled to be held on 15th and 16th of Bhadra in Tianjin, northern China. The opening ceremony will be addressed by Chinese President Xi, while Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and heads of state and government from other countries will also be present.
According to the Ministry, during the visit, Prime Minister Oli will also hold a separate meeting with Chinese President Xi. On the 17th of Bhadra, he is scheduled to address the SCO Plus Summit to be held in Tianjin.
He will also meet with leaders of various countries during the visit. On the same occasion, he is expected to hold talks with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Oli will attend the ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of China’s victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the global victory against fascism.
