Kathmandu, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, the chairman of Nepal Socialist Party (New Force), has stepped down from his position.
During the party’s central committee meeting held on Wednesday, Bhattarai officially announced his resignation from the post. In response, the party has dissolved the existing central committee and decided to form a General Convention Organizing Committee under the leadership of Vice-Chair Durga Sob, according to party spokesperson Krishna Sharma.
Sharma clarified that Bhattarai did not submit a formal resignation letter, but voluntarily stepped down from the role. Discussions are ongoing about when to hold the general convention, he added.
Bhattarai was elected as party chair in the general convention held last Magh (January 2025) following a split within the party.
