Kathmandu, Kedarnath Sharma, the chairman of Shiv Shikhar Cooperative, who had escaped from Nakkhu Prison, has been rearrested.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) apprehended Sharma on Wednesday from Sanepa and handed him back to Nakkhu Jail, according to CIB spokesperson Dharma Raj Bhandari.

Sharma was in pre-trial detention over a major cooperative fraud case. He had previously been arrested by the CIB on Ashar 12, 2080 (June 27, 2023) from Mumbai, India after fleeing.

In addition to the cooperative scam, he also faces charges related to money laundering involving over NPR 22 billion.
