Landslide Clearance Underway in Tuinkhola

Landslide Clearance Underway in Tuinkhola

Wednesday, September 24 2025

Kathmandu, The clearance work of a dry landslide that blocked the Muglin–Narayangadh road section near Tuinkhola has been underway since early Wednesday morning.

According to Krishna Prasad Acharya, Information Officer at the Road Division Office Bharatpur, four bulldozers — two from each side — have been operating since 6 AM. So far, only around 60 meters of debris has been cleared, while the landslide had buried about 160 meters of road and created a mound 20 meters high.

Although six machines are available, only four can be used at a time due to space and safety concerns. Large boulders within the debris have made the removal process slower and more difficult.

Dozer operator Kamlesh Chaudhary said that if no further landslides occur, the road could be cleared by Friday. He added that despite the risk, they are motivated to work seeing the plight of stranded travelers.

Due to the complete roadblock, Chitwan District Administration has urged drivers to use alternative routes, including Hetauda, Khairenitar, Bardibas, Butwal, Kawasoti, and Naubise.
