Tuin Khola Landslide Cleanup: Highway to Shut Down for Two Hours

Tuin Khola Landslide Cleanup: Highway to Shut Down for Two Hours

Monday, September 22 2025

Kathmandu, The Muglin–Narayangadh road section will be closed for two hours this afternoon to remove the remaining debris from a landslide near the Tuin Khola bridge.

According to the Road Division Office in Bharatpur, the road will be shut down from 1 PM to 3 PM to clear the landslide completely.

The landslide, which occurred near the Tuin Khola bridge last Friday, had blocked the highway for about 40 hours, leaving many travelers stranded. Although the road was partially reopened for one-way traffic around 4:30 PM on Sunday, it was again closed from 9 PM Sunday to 5 AM Monday due to safety concerns related to night-time travel.

As of this morning, only one-way traffic is allowed near the Tuin Khola bridge, while vehicles are operating in both directions on other parts of the highway. With the Dashain festival approaching and more people heading home, authorities are working to fully clear the road and resume two-way traffic across the entire stretch.

The prolonged road closure has caused significant traffic congestion. A lack of lane discipline has further contributed to traffic jams in several locations.

Both the traffic police and the Road Division Office have urged all drivers to follow lane discipline and cooperate to ensure smoother travel.
