kathmandu, Continuous rainfall over the past three days has caused a significant rise in the water level of the Tinau River, posing a heightened risk of flooding in surrounding areas of Butwal.

The source area of the river, located in Palpa district, has been experiencing persistent heavy rainfall since Tuesday night. As a result, the Tinau River is now flowing at its highest level of the year as of Wednesday, according to local authorities.

The Area Police Office in Butwal has reported increased flood threats to the riverside settlements along Tinau. Sudden and intense rain in regions like Palpa and Siddhababa often causes a rapid surge in the river’s water level, a pattern observed once again during this week’s heavy precipitation.

With continued rainfall expected throughout the day in both Butwal and Palpa, the police have urged residents of low-lying and riverside communities to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

Communities located near the riverbanks — such as Purano Buspark, Sundarnagar, Majuwa, Binapate, Hattishudha, and Majhgaun are particularly vulnerable. Hundreds of families living in these areas face recurring flood risks every year, especially during the monsoon season.

Despite the rising danger, police have confirmed that no damage or casualties have been reported in Butwal or nearby regions as of now.

Local authorities and disaster response teams are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are advised to stay updated through official alerts.
