Kathmandu – Gold prices in Nepal hit a new record high today, with rates soaring by Rs. 1,200 in a single day. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, the price of gold has reached Rs. 200,600 per tola, marking the highest level ever recorded in the domestic market.

The sharp rise is being attributed to fluctuations in the international market, where global uncertainties and rising demand have continued to push precious metal prices upward. Traders say the surge reflects both international trends and the depreciation of the Nepali rupee against the US dollar.

Silver prices have also edged higher. Compared to Thursday’s price of Rs. 2,355 per tola, silver rose by Rs. 5 today, trading at Rs. 2,360 per tola.

Gold and silver are considered safe-haven assets in times of economic and geopolitical instability. Analysts suggest that the new surge in prices could impact local jewelry markets and consumer demand, particularly ahead of the upcoming festival season when sales usually peak.
