Kathmandu: After the Gen Z movement, the country is on a new path. Following the movement, the government led by KP Sharma Oli was toppled. Political leaders were attacked, and their residences were set on fire. Not only that, the historic Singha Durbar (the administrative center of Nepal) was also burned.

Courts were set on fire, criminals escaped from jail, and a fearful environment was created for private investors. During the days of the movement, individual egos took precedence. As a result, the country is now in an even more chaotic situation. Prime Minister Shushila Karki has been given a mandate to hold elections on 21st Falgun. Currently, parties are rushing to register. In fact, parties are being registered on an individual basis.

There is no unity among the Gen Z leaders who came forward claiming the issue of good governance, replacing old leadership. Everyone is forming their own groups and rapidly opening parties. It seems that each Gen Z group will end up forming its own party. The core issue of the Gen Z movement remains the same. However, whether the sacrifices of those martyrs who lost their lives during the movement will be honored by the Gen Z generation is now in question.

New parties are in the process of registration. Some Gen Z groups are in opposition to the government, while others have to contest elections. However, no one has a clear policy. The lack of unity among the Gen Z is seen by some as an opportunity for old parties to regain power.

On social media, there is a perception being created that one can enter politics merely by criticizing the old leadership. Using the Gen Z name, numerous parties are emerging across the country. Political parties ousted from power are heading to courts to restore parliament. Debate continues over whether elections will take place or not. Yet, the Gen Z groups remain firm in their positions. If they do not unite, it is certain that the reins of the country will fall back into the hands of the old leaders. Political parties are not willing to stay in fear of Gen Z for long.

The police are currently arresting participants of the protests held on the 23rd and 24th. More than 500 people are under police control across the country. However, there is no group within Gen Z speaking up for them. Those inciting protests have not been able to address the actual issues of Gen Z. With Gen Z itself lacking unity, there is ongoing concern and tension about whether the country will drift further toward rebellion.
