Nepal Police Leadership Gets New 32nd IGP

Kathmandu . The government has appointed Chandrakuber Khapung as the 32nd Inspector General of Nepal Police. The decision was made during today’s Cabinet meeting. Khapung will serve as IGP for 71 days, until November 12, 2025.

The current IGP, Deepak Thapa, is set to retire at midnight on September 3. With Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli scheduled to leave for an official visit to China tomorrow, the Cabinet finalized the new police chief’s appointment today.

Khapung, who currently heads the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), joined Nepal Police in 1995. Born in Tehrathum, he has served in various capacities over his career before being elevated to the top post.
