Kathmandu, More than 800 tourists have returned from Tilicho Base Camp (4,919 m) after continuous snowfall and deteriorating weather conditions. According to Chyolpa Gurung, ward chair of Nisyang Rural Municipality–9, Khangsar, heavy snowfall began last evening, preventing anyone from proceeding toward Tilicho Lake today.

Chief District Officer Navaraj Paudyal said that efforts are underway to clear snow from the road between Humde and Khangsar. Security personnel from the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Nepal Army have been mobilized with dozers and shovels to reopen the route. One tourist was rescued and is receiving treatment at the Humde Health Post.

Most of the returning tourists are domestic travelers, while many foreign visitors remain at their hotels. The district administration has urged all travelers to stay safe and avoid upper Manang until weather conditions improve.
